When going to visit Makkah & Madina

A few suggestions based off of what I learnt from the wise ones, from living in Saudi & being able to go very often alhamdullilah to makkah & madinah for over 17 yrs:

- Reciting the following on your way to makkah and all the way until you arrive in al haram

Labaik Allahuma Labaik, Labaika La Shareeka Laka Lbaik, inn Al Hamda Wan Na'mata Laka Wal Mulk, La Shareeka Lak

- the whole walk that you take inside al haram to get to the Ka’ba itself, lower your gaze and head and don’t look up until you are right in front of the Ka’ba. This is a practice that has been done by many for centuries out of pure love & respect for the Ka’ba.

- be conscious of the fact that when you are looking at the Holy Ka’ba, your hearts and heart and soul, entire existence is being healed and cured just by looking at it.

- when you leave the Ka’ba circle to go safa & marwa etc, you leave it by walking backwards (facing the Ka’ba) out of respect to not face your back towards it. Obv you cant walk backwards the whole way lol but as much as you can.

- when you’re on your way to Madina, recite salawaat and keep your connected to RasoolAllah ‎ﷺ

(A powerful one is صلاة الفاتح) as it brings so many openings for you and your heart and any situation you need help for.

Allahumma ṣalli ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadini l-Fātiḥi limā ughliq(a), wa l-khātimi limā sabaq(a), nāṣiri l-ḥaqqi bi l-ḥaqq(i), wa l-hādī ilā ṣirāṭika l-mustaqīm(i), wa ʿalā ālihi ḥaqqa qadrihi wa miqdārihi l-ʿaẓīm.

O Allah, send prayers upon our master Muhammad, the opener of what was closed, and the seal of what had preceded, the helper of the truth by the Truth, and the guide to Your straight path. May Allah send prayers upon his Family according to his greatness and magnificent rank.

- when you get to Masjid Al Nabawi, to make sure you before anything else, stop at a spot whether in the mosque or infront of the green dome, and give proper salams to the Prophet because you are finally in such close proximity to his ‎ﷺ blessed presence

- aside from all the adhkar and dua and quran and prayers you make inshAllah in Madina tul Munawara and/or Makkah, one activity I’ve found so sweet to the heart is writing poetry to Sayyidna Muhammad ‎ﷺ and to Madina itself
Or to Allah or Makkah. But doing this while sitting in these Holy places is a feeling I can’t describe. It is so healing and attunes you so much with the Holy vibrations.

- this is an obv one but paying respects and salams to Ahlul Baqi (Jannatul Baqi graveyard next to Masjid Al Nabawi). Reciting Fatiha & Ikhlaas three times for their blessed souls. inshAllah pls do so as well for my grandfather who is resting there🤍

- try your best to absorb all the noor and blessings of these Holy cites, by being present with the land and every step you take in these places.

- You will defo be tested and given certain situations or ppl saying things or even ur family where shaytan is trying to make arguments or any form of anger within the visitors of these Holy places. There will also be a ton of rush sometimes especially in Tawaf or in the Rawdah of Rasool pbuh when you go in the womens side and theres barely place to even stand. You will defo be pushed at times n this n that but it might get uncomfortable but when you become mindful of why there is so much rush and how these are all eager and hungry hearts for the Owner of All Hearts and His Beloved ‎ﷺ, then you find calmness regardless of all these outwardly apparent “uncalm” situations. But this is where your iman and strength builds 10x more than it would with tests given to you in your normal country or any other part of the world. Allah may even make you see certain things or people that might form ws ws of judgment or yk anything negative. Thats why the training is done best here where you must firstly ask Allah to protect you from these thoughts and wrong actions but also do the work by trainings yourself to divert your heart to Dhikr constantly at all times you’re there so that you become so infused with Allah’s remembrance that all other thoughts and concerns can dim down.

Be present and respectful with the Ahlul Madina, the people, animals, food, plants and all inhabitants of Makkah and Madina because they are truly blessed souls who were chosen to live in the land of these distinct places. My dad would always tell me make sure to never even waste a morsol of food that is from these Holy places because they contain so much barakah and throwing them is really dangerous, especially if theres no valid reason to.

All this above obv requires one to be less connected to world, in order to be connected to The Oneness Divineness. So being on your phone as less as possible. Obv take pics and what you like but try to interact less with the entire online universe so you can tap into and connect to the inner universe that is trying to connect to the Owner of All Universes.

In terms of dua for others which is beautiful and so precious. This is something a lot of people do which is asking ppl for what duas they need, and then the person sits in these Holy places reading off their phone the lists and lists of ppl duas. This is something I learnt from my elders who have also lived their life visiting these places v often. The real essence of dua that we are taught is that which comes from the heart. So because of your beautiful heart mashAllah of caring for those who are in your life. So read their requests of duas beforehand and your heart will naturally store the concerns and depth of what they are seeking from Allah, and so when you are actually there and in your dua you wish to begin to make dua for others, allow it to come from your heart and all which it has contained.  Because with Allah, He doesn’t even need us to say word for word exactly what we want because He knows already what every feeling encompasses, but we try our best to articulate it. Ik you know all this but its just teachings Ive been taught that are just as a reminder for myself and you <3
